Grace E. Ewan Grace Elizabeth Ewan, age 96, of Chambersburg, passed away May 22, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital. She was born December 10, 1917 in Chambersburg, PA to Alfred and Annie (Kessler) Gilbert. She was the widow of the late Earl Ewan, who died in 1975. Grace retired from the Stanley Company after 37 years of service. She belonged to the King Street United Brethren Church. Her hobbies were cooking, crocheting, and doing volunteer work at her church and at Piney Mountain Nursing Home for many years. At her church she was involved with the Golden Links Sunday School Class, Women's Missionary Group, Alter Guild, prime timers, church visitation for the elderly and shut-ins until she was 95 years old. She also belonged to the Golden Age Club of Chambersburg, where she had served as Chaplain. She had won a prize for her unbaked fruit cake, she won blue ribbons at the Franklin County Fair for her crocheting. Grace is survived by her daughter, Rosalyn K. Ewan of Chambersburg. She had four half-sisters: Jane Beidel, Catherine Carbaugh, Frances Fleagle and Barbara Hock, and three half brothers: Alfred, Merle and Roger Gilbert. She was preceded in death by a sister, Isabel Hykes, two brothers William Gilbert and Walter Gilbert, and two half-brothers: Raymond and Richard Gilbert. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 27th at 1:00 PM at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg with Revs. Paul Baker and Les Stine officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent to King Street United Brethren Church, 162 East King St., Chambersburg, PA. 17201 or to the .
