Garnet ("Whitey") Yeager, 88, husband of the late Betty (Rockwell) Yeager, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010.
Whitey is survived by his four children; Sharon Augustine of Norristown, PA., Darryl (Holly) Yeager of Pottstown, PA., Diana Dieciedue of East Norriton, PA., and Marsha Pettine of Conshohocken, PA.; two sisters, Pauline Hammond of Fannettsburg, PA, and Patsy Cline of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren; Christopher (Amy) Augustine, Michael (Cassandra) Augustine and Dawn Augustine, Melody (Dave) Snyder, Jennifer (Elias) Morales, Danielle Dieciedue and Anthony Pettine; and eight great-grandchildren; Devon, Johnathon, Christopher, Trinity, Michaela, Andrew, Venessa, Antonio, and many nieces and nephews.
Whitey was born in Ft. Loudon, PA, on July 24, 1922. He served in the army receiving the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Star Service & Campaign Ribbon World War II. He owned and operated a Mobil gas station in Trooper, PA. and he was a heavy equipment operator and concrete truck driver.
Whitey was a member of the Masonic Norristown Lodge No. 620, American Legion Wesley Yeager Post 606, and the Mercersburg VFW, Post 6241.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Charlestown United Methodist Church, 13826 Buchanan Trail W., Mercersburg, PA. on Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held at the Charlestown United Methodist Church at 11:00 am.
