Mr. Ronald G. "Ron" Coffman, 78, of 10320 Polidor Road, Waynesboro, PA, passed away at 12:55 A.M., Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Waynesboro Hospital.
Born June 21, 1932 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Edwin and Helen (Stephey) Coffman.
Mr. Coffman attended Waynesboro schools, receiving his GED in 1979.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed at Ft. Meade, MD.
He and his wife of over 32 years, Mrs. Jacqueline D. "Jackie" (Kagey) Coffman, were married October 3, 1978.
Mr. Coffman was employed at Landis Tool Company and McCleaf Bus Lines, both of Waynesboro. He retired in 1998.
He was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Eagles Club, Inc. and Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 where he served as Past Commander, all of Waynesboro.
Mr. Coffman enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing his computer game and baseball, especially the Baltimore Orioles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Helm and her husband, Doug of Waynesboro; four step-daughters, Cindy Crider and her husband, Ed of Greencastle, PA, Liz Walck and her husband, Doug of Waynesboro, Tina Brake and her husband, Tom of Michigan and Dolly Brake and her husband, Ed of Baltimore, MD; one granddaughter, Erika Lee and her husband, Ryan of Denver, CO; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; Lydia and Elliott Lee; five step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary H. Kirkpatrick of Chambersburg, PA and Gloria Smith and her husband, Dick of Kentucky; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Gregory Helman and Pastor Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville, PA where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday in the funeral home.
