John E. Pace Sr. Obituary
John E. Pace, Sr, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away in his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, October 4th at the age of 80. He was born October 22, 1931 in Richmond VA, the son of the late William M. and Virginia (Cox) Pace of VA. He will be greatly missed by his family whom he dearly loved. John was raised in Upper New York state and attended Oswego State Teachers College, Oswego, NY for 1-1/2 years, prior to enlisting in the Navy for 4 years, 1951 to 1955. His entire 4 years were served in various positions in the U.S. Submarine service. Following his military service, John attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI), graduating in 1959 with a BS in Industrial Engineering. During his working career, he worked at various companies, primarily in PA and ended his working career with Headquarters DESCOM, Chambersburg, PA in 1996. John was a long standing member of the First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, and his special Sunday School Class, the HOPE Class. In his later years, John was very active in the Republican Party because he desired to see the party seek and elect representatives whose first commitment was to the people. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia (Pace) Whipple of Calif. Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Grace (Glunt) Pace, and 2 sons, John E. (Angie Petrilla) Pace, II of Chambersburg; Jeffrey Scott (Kim) Pace, of Fredericksburg, VA.; and 3 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be at the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second Street, Chambersburg, PA from 6-8PM on Saturday, October 6th and 2 PM until the time of a funeral service at 4PM on Sunday, October 7th.. The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, PA and the Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, Mechanicsburg are handling the arrangements.
