R. Nelson Kost, 84, died at home in Mechanicsburg, on November 21, 2012. He was born on January 30, 1928, to the deceased Rae and Dorothy Kost. He graduated from Mechanicsburg High School and the University of Susquehanna. His career was teaching music, retiring from the West Shore School District. He was a church organist for over 50 years. He was of the Lutheran faith but played at many churches over his career. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Jane Kost. He is survived by three children, James M. Kost, Kathleen Debrick and Karen Lebo, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Nelson was an Eagle Scout, a member of the American Guild of Organists, a member of the Kiwanis and a member of the PA State Association of Retires. He was a member of St Paul UM Church in Chambersburg, and also a member of St John's Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, where he retired as their church organist. Services will be held at St John's Lutheran Church on December 1, 2012, at 10 a.m. followed by a 2 p.m. Columbarium service at St. Paul UM Church in Chambersburg where he will be laid to rest.
