Marlene G. Emory Obituary
Mrs. Marlene G. (Swope) Emory, 77, a resident of Menno Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, and formerly of Waynesboro, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the nursing home. Born December 5, 1935, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Virginia C. (Lohman) Swope. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. She and her husband, the late Mr. Charles R. Emory, were married October 24, 1953 in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Emory passed away August 23, 2002. Mrs. Emory was a homemaker and did house cleaning for area families. She was a very caring person. She enjoyed making Afghans every year for the local cancer auction and was always there with a helping hand, whether it was taking care of someone who was ill or to feed a hungry belly. She attended Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, Greencastle. Mrs. Emory is survived by two children, Charles L. Emory of Waynesboro and Linda M. Barnhart and her husband, Jeffrey of Marion; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Isabel Sellers of State Line; one brother, Walter Swope of Hagerstown; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Swope, Robert Swope and Lloyd Swope and two sisters, Adeline Semler and Peggy Shockey. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro. Burial will follow in Calvary Chapel Cemetery, Beartown. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9th, in the funeral home.
