William L. Leidig Obituary
Mr. William Lee "Bill" Leidig, 68, of 491 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his family. He had been in failing health for the last four months. Born November 19, 1944, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Mabel (Miller) Leidig. He and his wife of 22 years, Mrs. Deborah "Deb" (Snoke) Leidig, were married June 23, 1990, in Hagerstown, Md. He had lived at his present residence since 1986. Bill was employed at Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, from 1963 until his retirement in 2000. Following his retirement, he owned and operated his own lawn care and tree service until his health declined in October 2012. He was a member of Harry Zeigler VFW Post #6319, Greencastle. Bill enjoyed spending time with family, friends and at public sales. He also liked to keep busy, often working on cars, lawn mowers or welding items. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Clydetta Hensley and Lorie Gerhart Reasner, both of Greencastle and Michael Gerhart and his wife, Steph of Mercersburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Seville and Janice Baker, both of St. Thomas, and Shirley Young of Greencastle; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Mellott; a sister, Patsy Hornbaker; and two brothers, John Leidig and Richard Leidig. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with Pastor Kevin Lay officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
