Mildred L. (Dietrich) Goetz, 93 of Orchard Circle Greencastle died unexpectedly Friday December 15, 2013, in her home. Born May 18, 1919, in Welsh Run, she was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Cora E. (Myers) Dietrich. She married Eugene S. "Biggie" Goetz on October 4, 1941 in Hagerstown. He died on October 13, 2009. Mildred was a homemaker and served for many years as a school crossing guard in the Borough of Greencastle. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle, member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 and Rescue Hose Company No. 1 Ladies Auxiliaries and was a member of the Greencastle-Antrim Loyal Daughters. She was a 1937 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended Hagerstown Business School. She and her husband volunteered with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Surviving family are four daughters, Barbara L. (wife of Ronald L.) Nicarry, Beverly J. (wife of Roger L.) Bitner, all of Greencastle, Deborah J. (wife of Ricky L.) Lynn, Hagerstown, MD, Carole L. (wife of James A.) Sutch, Sharpsburg, MD, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons Kirk A. Bitner and Benjamin Franklin Bitner, a sister Margaret V. Dietrich and a brother Marvin F. Dietrich. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 20 at 11 a.m. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, with Revs. Martin H. Horn and Donald M. Bohn officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church 130 N. Washington St. Greencastle, PA 17225; or to the Rescue Hose Co.
