Mr. Paul Guilford Hoke, 87, of 5126 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, PA, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Born November 26, 1925 in Upton, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob Leroy and Sarah (Hoffeditz) Hoke. Mr. Hoke graduated from Lemasters High School with the class of 1943 and Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army with the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Division, in Germany during World War II. He and his wife, Ila M. (Learn) Hoke, were married on September 24, 1955 in Cookport, PA. Mrs. Hoke died in 2003. Mr. Hoke was first employed as a Penn State Agricultural Extension Agent in Northwestern, PA. He later served as a substitute teacher for several local school districts and operated a dairy farm in St. Thomas. After retiring from farming, he worked for Scott's Plumbing and Heating, St. Thomas, during which time he designed and built rental properties for which he served as landlord until his passing. He served as the President of Tri-State Weather Association and was a member of Southern Engineers Society and St. Thomas Ruritan. Mr. Hoke enjoyed traveling with his wife, and they would often leave town without a specific destination or return date in mind. He also enjoyed home improvements and construction, vegetable gardening, family genealogy and both opera and classical music. He is survived by three daughters: Renee Hoke Creeden, and her husband Paul of Fruita, CO, Andrea Hoke, of Elizabethtown, PA, Alison Hoke Fitts, and her husband Jeffrey of Mount Joy, PA; a son: Bryan Hoke, and his wife Nancy HawbakerHoke, of St. Thomas, PA; three grandsons: Sean Creeden, of Omaha, NE, Eric Creeden, of Denver, CO, Ricky Fitts, of Mount Joy, PA; two brothers: John Hoke, of State College, PA, Aaron Hoke, Wells, ME; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Elizabeth Hoke, Pauline Hoke Wilson and Alice Jane Hoke Zimmerman.
