Gerald W. Bennett Gerald W. "Jerry" Bennett, 51, of Lavergne, Tenn., formerly of Mercersburg and Dry Run, went to be with the Lord Oct. 11, 2013, in the Centennial Hospital in Tennessee. He was born August 3, 1962, in McConnellsburg, the son of Wayne M. Bennett and Beverly (Hornbaker) Guyer. Jerry traveled the nation and Canada ministering in the word and gospel song. He wrote and performed many of his own songs. He was a showman, keyboard player, and gospel artist and entertainer of the year for 2011 and 2012. Prior to that, he worked at Letter-kenney Army Depot for the federal government. Jerry graduated in 1980 from Fannett-Metal High School. Jerry enjoyed fishing and making people laugh. He is survived by his father, Wayne M. Bennett; mother, Beverly L. Guyer; stepmother, Marry Bennett; grandmother, Irene (Pine) Bennett; two sisters, Gloria Sollenberger and Vicky Moore; one brother, Mark Bennett; and three nieces and two nephews. Memorial services will be held in Tennessee and Pennsylvania. Dates, places and times have not yet been determined and will be posted on a later date.
