Mary Ellen Spoonhour Mary Ellen Spoonhour, 86, went away to be with the Lord December 30, 2013, at her home. She was born February 22, 1927, in Chambersburg to the late Wilbur and Ruth (Davis) Brindle. She was married to the late Edgar Lloyd Spoonhour and employed by the Stanley Co. for over 40 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother as well as a member of the Marion Mennonite Church. Mary Ellen is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Trudy and Mike Mills, Karen and Paul Carmack, Debra and Bill Grooms, and June and Robin Robinson; four sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Tuddy Brindle, Lloyd Spoonhour, Douglas and Cheryl Spoonhour, and James Spoonhour; 100 plus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Ida Mae Brindle, Dorothy Winn, Catherine Sheilds, Hilda Fahnestock, Carrie Shearer, Carol Ann Laird; and a brother, George Brindle. She is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Strausburg; three brothers, Roy Brindle of South Mountain, Chester Brindle of Chambersburg, and Bill Brindle of Chambersburg; and a grandson, Jeremy Spoonhour of Greencastle. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Marion Mennonite Church at 4365 Molly Pitcher Highway in Chambersburg, PA, with Pastor Carl Kniss officiating.
