Kenneth E. Agar Kenneth Elmer Agar, 95, of Newville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, March 31, 2014, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born August 21, 1918, in Souderton, the son of William S. and Clara Gross Agar. Mr. Agar is preceded in death by two wives, Hannah Mae Landis Agar, and Thelma Clugh Agar. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He had worked as a plasterer/concrete worker, and was a farmer. He was a member of the Doubling Gap Church of God Newville, and was a former member of the Open Door Church in Chambersburg. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. Mr. Agar is survived by three daughters, Eileen Bear and her husband Jacob of Newville, Beverly Agar with whom he lived, and Linda Dickerson and husband Brent of Independence Mo.; four sons, Kenneth Dale Agar and wife Mary Ellen of Allentown, David A. Agar and wife Cheryl of Gardners, Donald Agar and wife Denise of Carlisle, and Dorell "George" Agar and wife Dawn of Newville; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, William S. Agar Jr. A viewing will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Doubling Gap First Church of God Newville. A funeral service will beheld at 11 a.m. in the church, with Pastor Donald Snyder officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Salem Stone United Church of Christ Cemetery, Carlisle.
