Maxine Moats Obituary

Maxine Ruby Moats Maxine Ruby Moats, 82, of Hancock, Md., died Monday April 21, 2014, at her home. Born January 14, 1932, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joab L. and Mary Elizabeth Ray Deneen. She was a 1950 graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, Md. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, where she taught Children's Church, Bible School and Sunday School. Maxine loved to study family history. She is survived by her husband, Fred A Moats, who she married August 2, 1950, in Cumberland, Md.; three daughters, Anita J. Morris of Hancock, Md., Roberta A. Martin of Chambersburg, and Linda F. Martin of Greencastle; one son, Keith Edward Moats of Clear Spring, Md.; two brothers, Clarence E. Deneen of Tennessee, and Kenneth R. Deneen of Cumberland, Md.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Roberts and Ruth Deneen; two brothers, Raymond O. Deneen and Homer D. Deneen; two grandsons. A service will be held Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, Hancock, Md. The Rev. Harry Strite will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md., Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Friday 10 to 11 a.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, 14904 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, MD 21750.
