News Death Notice

BLANKENSHIP, Gladys age 89, died suddenly on Saturday, August 15th at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville, OH. She was born April 23rd, 1920 in Morgan County, Kentucky to Willie and Pearlie (Hays) Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a brother Estill Martin and a sister Edna Goodpaster. She was married for 42 years to Leonard Blankenship who died in 1993. Gladys was a long time resident of Warren County who worked for many years at Otterbein Nursing Home and retired from Kettering Hospital in 1986. She loved spending time with her family and collecting birds, bells and salt and pepper shakers. She is survived by her 5 children; Marvin Blankenship of Oregonia, OH, Marple Blankenship and wife Evalee of Lebanon, OH, Russell Blankenship of Hillsboro, OH, Lynn Cook and husband Dale of Lebanon, OH and Ruth Baker and husband Henry of Springboro, OH. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, August 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Craft officiating. Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions maybe made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
