James Lowmaster Obituary

James Edwin Lowmaster, 84, of Indiana, went home to the arms of his Savior on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Shirey's Personal Care Home, Glen Campbell.

A son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Twila Olive Spencer Lowmaster, he was born on May 31, 1931, in Rossiter.

Mr. Lowmaster was a member and Elder Emeritus of the First Christian Church of Indiana, where he taught Sunday school and served on the church board.

He was a machinist for more than 50 years and worked at Barr Mine Repair, U.S. Steel and Greensteel.

Mr. Lowmaster was also a leader of the Boy Scouts of America Troup 11 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, holding a Silver Beaver award, and was a vigil member in the Order of the Arrow. He was active in the scouting expeditions at Philmont Scout Reservation.

Mr. Lowmaster enjoyed hunting and fishing in Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Canada.

He is survived by three children, Phillip Lowmaster and wife Rebecca of Woodburn, Oregon, Steven Lowmaster and wife Diana of Indiana, and David Lowmaster and wife Kathryn of Hannibal, New York; a brother, George Lowmaster and wife Jane of Montoursville; a brother-in-law, Vernon Winebark of Rossiter; seven grandchildren, Christy Pierce, Megan Lowmaster, Jeremy Holiday, Jason Lowmaster, Shannon Lowmaster, Justin Lowmaster and James R. Lowmaster; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Winebark Lowmaster; two children, Paul Lowmaster and Judith Holiday; and an infant sister, Lillian Lowmaster.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Robinson-Lytle, Inc.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, at First Christian Church, with Pastor Jerry Hoch officiating.

Following a brief graveside service, interment will be in Marchand Cemetery.
