We sadly announce the passing of our beloved Alyce Therese Vlaco who entered Heaven's gates on May 31, 2018. Alyce was born and raised in San Pedro, California on January 17, 1929, attended Mary Star of the Sea and graduated from San Pedro high school in 1947. After high school she discontinued her studies at Immaculate Heart College to contribute to the war effort by taking a job at Bethlehem Steel in Hoboken, New Jersey during WWII. Upon returning to San Pedro she embarked on her career marine insurance as a Marine Underwriter for Commercial Fisherman's Inter-Insurance Exchange where she rose from Secretary to President over a 57-year career. A devoted mother and homemaker, Alyce was a gracious host and welcomed all with open arms and love into her home. She remained very involved in planning and organizing both the Mary Star and San Pedro HS class reunions, and had unwavering faith in God and was a dedicated member of Holy Trinity Parish. Alyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Bill Vlaco. She is also preceded in death by her son, Nicholas Vlaco (Erin). Alyce is survived by her son, William (Lucia); daughter, Elizabeth (Brian) and son, Martin (Jessica). She is also survived by her granddaughter, Cahleen Hudson Creeger (Ian); her two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Kieran, and grandchildren Bryan Creeger, Brian Mico (Lizette), Tamara Vlaco (Edgar), Anna Mico, Maggie Vlaco, Nicholas Vlaco and Liam Vlaco. She also loved her adoring nephews and nieces Jimmy, Robbie, Moira, Colleen, Patrick and Sean and their respective partners and children. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 4th, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, June 2nd, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Pedro, CA followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
