January 22, 1931 - August 15, 2017
Ann grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio and was both a cheerleader and Homecoming Queen at Edgewood High School. At the age of 18, she began working at a radio station as a DJ, and soon had three radio programs "It's A Women's World" (interviews and news about women), "Morning Melodies" (a disc jockey show), and "It's Stitching Time" (household hints).
In 1951, she had just been hired to host a new television program, but had met Frank, the love of her life, and chose to marry him and move to California where he took a job as an engineer in the aerospace industry. They moved to Rolling Hills Estates in 1960 where, in addition to raising two daughters, they both were very active in the City and served on many city committees.
Ann became well known on the PV peninsula for her popular column in the Palos Verdes Peninsula News, "RanchViews", which she wrote for over 25 years. She took over the column in the early 1960's, and moved it from a society column to a humorous, Erma Bombeck style commentary on life and the community.
After Frank passed away in 2001 she moved to Safety Harbor, Florida to be near her sister. She and her sisters were known for their hilarious, costumed, singing and dancing skits at family parties. She moved back to Palos Verdes, CA in 2009 and into University Village in Thousand Oaks, CA in 2011.
What she was most proud of in her life was her marriage to Frank, her family, and being a mom and grandmother. She said, if anyone asks how I want to be remembered say the following about me: "I am the luckiest person in the world- born a member of the close-knit, impassioned, and merry-making Chearno family. I was blessed with a devoted, extraordinary husband and a very special 50 year marriage; had two exceptional loving and caring daughters and four fantastic grandsons who always made me feel loved and cherished."
She is survived by her two daughters, Caprice (Mark) Moran, of Medford, OR, and Renee Bodie, of Pasadena, CA; her four grandsons, Brett (Natalie) Bodie, Aaron (Ana) Bodie, Jason Bodie, and Jarrett Moran (Nozlee), and her sister Rose (Joe) Incorvia, and brothers Bob Dingenary, Andy Dingenary, and Gene Dingenary.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Sept 16, at 11:00am at St. John Fisher Church in Rolling Hills Estates, 5448 Crest Rd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, with a reception following also at the church.

So sorry to lose my dear friend, Ann. We have been friends for such a long time, shared a hairdresser, aerobic dance, and so many fun times.

My parents were in the Rolling Squares square dance club in the 60's with Frank and Ann. I remember being at their house several times, and I knew Caprice and Renee. All good people. Sorry for your loss.
