Colleen Dinsmore Mock Obituary
Colleen Dinsmore Mock

Colleen Dinsmore Mock was born in Long Beach, California, on August 21, 1954, to Vivian and Max Dinsmore. She grew up in Southern California where some of her lifetime passions began. She loved spending time at the ocean and in the desert, especially Joshua Tree, where Max Dinsmore built a cabin. She enjoyed having a household full of pets at all times, including dogs, cats, birds and even a monkey named Charley, that she trained to ride on the back of her pet poodle. Animal rescue continued to be one of her most heartfelt causes, throughout her life. She loved the music of the Doors, Carole King, James Taylor, David Bowie, U2, and Elton John, to name a few. She was also an avid reader, especially of biographies, historical fiction, and true crime stories.

Colleen married Tim Mock on September 4,1983. In 1985 Colleen and Tim became foster parents to 9-year-old Anna, adopting her in 1989. Two and a half years ago they became grandparents to Elias Benson Brackett.

After completing her Masters in Public Administration in 1987, Colleen went on to pursue a professional career that was devoted to helping those with developmental disabilities. She selflessly served the community for over 40 years.

Colleen died peacefully on April 6, 2018 in the loving arms of her husband, Tim. She is survived by husband, Tim, daughter, Anna, son-in-law, Eric, and grandson, Elias. She will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved her. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
