Donald Wolverton Obituary
Donald Wolverton

Donald Wolverton joined eternal life December 16, 2017, at age 91 in Walnut Creek, CA. He will be remembered forever by family and friends as a loving, gentle man, for his wit, the light and twinkle in his eyes, and warm smile.

Don had recently moved with his wife Jan from San Pedro to Walnut Creek to be closer to family. He is survived by Jan, cherished wife of 67 years, three children, Karin Kelley (Steven), Judy Wolverton, Bruce Wolverton (Valerie), nine grandchildren, Kimberly Mahon (Dreyson), Katelyn Velasquez (Eddie), Donald Kelley, Travis Hill (Lindsey), Candace Hill, Trent Hill, Corey Wolverton, Ryan Wolverton, Cole Wolverton and three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklynn, and Bria Hill. Don is also survived by his brother, Roger Wolverton and was predeceased by his brother Richard Wolverton (Claudia).

Don was born in Los Angeles to Leon and Geneva Wolverton, spent formative years in Fresno, served in the US Navy in WWII, attended Fresno State College and earned a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Southern California. Don practiced as an architect for over 50 years.

Don was an Eagle Scout, served on a Los Angeles Youth Advisory board for the Salvation Army, was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and served on the National Presbyterian Mariners' Family Vacation Board. For over 50 years, Don was actively involved at the Presbyterian church's Ghost Ranch Conference Center, which gave him great joy, deep connections to many people, and a profound appreciation for the stunning beauty of the land. Upon retirement, Don filled his days with his new-found hobby of watercoloring and enjoyed the spectacular view of Catalina Island and the great Pacific from their home.
The Reverend Drs. Kathy Long Bostrom and Greg Bostrom of Christ Presbyterian Church, Carlsbad, will officiate a Celebration of Life at First Presbyterian Church, San Pedro, on January 6, 2018 at 11 a.m.
