Edward Richard Luera

After a long battle with cancer, Edward Richard Luera passed away on December 31, 2017.

Edward was born July 28, 1932 to Julio Luera and Mary Luera Hosking in San Pedro, CA where he also attended Barton Hill and was very proud of being a Cougar. Edward served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 until 1952 attaining the rank of Private First Class.

Edward lived his entire life in San Pedro and was a proud 54-year member of the I.L.W.U. (Book# 1742). He retired in 2004 having worked in both Local 13 and Local 63.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Lydia Luera; daughters, Irene Elaine Luera and Annette Louise Espino; grandson, Jose L. Perea Jr. (aka Andres Betancourt) as well as his wife of 42 years, Rosemary Rios Luera.

He will be remembered with love by his children, Gloria Lorraine Martinez (Rolando), Marie Windhorn Luera, Debra Carreon (Michael), Renee Espino (Ray), Jane Espino (Randy); grandchildren, Jeana Cortez (Jose), Gilbert Lopez, April Aguilar, Sinfie Pena, Dale Watts, Lucas Carreon, Marcus Carreon, Lauren Windhorn, Morgan Windhorn and Mason Windhorn; 17 great grandchildren and brother, Earl Donald Hosking, Jr. (Lisa).

At his request, no service will be held.
