Francis (Frank) Westhoff Jr.

1949 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Frank Westhoff, Jr.

Frank Westhoff, 68, of Lewistown, Montana passed away on January 15, 2018 from a courageous battle with cancer.

Frank was born in Seattle, Washington on August 20, 1949 to Francis and Grace (Durrocher) Westhoff. They later divorced.

At the age of 3 Frank and his father moved to Malta, Montana. At 9 years old Frank, his father and his step-mother, Margaret, moved to Lewistown, Montana.

Frank attended St. Leo's School and graduated in 1967. He joined the Navy in September 1967 and was stationed in Long Beach, California on the DD869 Arnold J Isbell his entire Navy career. Frank served two tours of Vietnam and was honorably discharged on July 1, 1971 as a 2nd Class Machinist Mate.

On September 22, 1969 Frank was united in marriage to Suzanne Watson. To this marriage they were blessed with 3 children: Michelle (45), Jeramy (43) and Jennifer (40).

December 1, 1971, Frank began his career with Chevron Oil. He became a pipe fitter and made many lifelong friends.

He loved to water ski and took great pride in teaching his children to single ski by the age of five. He was also ready to go fishing whenever anyone asked.

His greatest accomplishment was coaching Pop Warner Football from 1982 to 1989. He was so proud of all his players. It was a family affair; with Jeramy playing, Michelle and Jennifer cheerleading and Suzanne doing executive duties.

In the fall of 1990, Frank moved his family back to his hometown of Lewistown, Montana. Michelle chose to stay in California - Jeramy entered the 11th grade and Jennifer 8th grade. Both Jeramy and Jennifer continued their great athletic careers.

Frank began restoring their 1914 circa home single-handedly which took him five years. When finished, the home was a piece of art. Frank then began work at the State Home in the maintenance department. Frank and Suzanne both retired in 2012 after building their own home. What an adventure that was!

In Montana, Frank still loved to fish, rifle hunt big game and even took up bow hunting. There was never anything he wouldn't try.

Frank is survived by his wife, Suzanne; step-mother, Margaret Westhoff; brothers, Dale (Kristen), Dean (Sandra), Dan (Beverly), David (Gretchen); sister, Donna Pratt (Jeff); daughter, Michelle; son, Jeramy; daughter, Jennifer Weeden (Lee); grandchildren, Dachelle Turner, Jaylen Turner, Hannah Oldenburger (Austin), Scott Weeden, Mathew Weeden, Noah Westhoff, and Maddux Westhoff; great-grandchildren, Jada and Aja; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Grace; Suzanne's father, "Buck"; his father, "Ody"; and way too many of his classmates and close friends.

Services celebrating Frank's life will be held January 27, 2018 at 4:00pm at New Life Assembly of God Church in Lewistown, Montana.
