Gloria Constable Obituary
Gloria Constable

Gloria Constable passed away comfortably after a short illness on March 29, 2018. Born Gloria Maria Martinez Garcia on April 4, 1931 in Beeville, TX she was raised in San Antonio, TX where she met her first husband, Allen Geiger. Their first two children were born in Austin, TX and then her dream of moving to California became real. Two more children came and they settled in beautiful San Pedro, CA in 1961. She recently told her youngest daughter that raising her babies was the biggest joy of her life. But with four little ones at home, Gloria's mother-in-law encouraged her to get a hobby - that's when she fell in love with the game of golf.
In 1965, Gloria married Joseph Scott and was honored with raising her stepdaughter, Lori. Gloria worked as a waitress for many years… first, at Pepe's, then across the street at Olson's. She cherished the friendships she made along the way. Around 1978, she took over Americo's Pizza in-between the Hamburger Hut and TC's Bar on Gaffey St. She enjoyed being a business owner and was an amazing cook. Gloria's work ethic was top-notch.
In 1984, Gloria married Trevor Constable and inherited another stepdaughter, Diana "aka Maus". It was then that she decided on a new career as a cosmetologist. Her passion was pedicures, but you were in luck to have your head shampooed by her before a cut. In this profession, Gloria worked into her early eighties. Being married to Trevor allowed her to work in her desired profession, play lots of golf, travel with friends and visit her children whenever she wanted. Glo, as many called her, had a blessed life.
The golf game slacked while care-giving for Trevor in his final years until he passed away in 2016. It was then that daughter Kerin and her husband Kurt retired from Alaska, moved to Redding, CA, and moved Gloria there with them. Turned out she had a few golf games left.
Gloria is survived by her younger sister, Nora Perez; and her children, Phyllis Rothwell of Arlington, WA; Bobby Geiger (Jeanette) of Canyon Country, CA; Ken Geiger (Jan) of American Canyon; Kerin Geiger (Kurt Chamberlin) of Redding, CA; Lori Scott (Joe Rice) of Juneau, AK; and Diana Neroni (Fred) of Polson, MT. Gloria was also blessed with many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kind words may be sent to Kerin Geiger, 5055 Huntington Dr., Redding, CA 96002 and in lieu of flowers, perhaps a donation on Gloria's behalf to Mercy Hospice, 1544 Market Street, Redding, CA 96002. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
