Masako had lived in California, the Midwest, and East Coast until moving to Torrance in 1993, where she spent her last 24 years.

Masako was an avid dancer and performed Okinawan and Japanese folk dances with her Okinawan dance troupe throughout the Los Angeles area. She was a member of the Okinawan Association of America and belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Redondo Beach.
