Norma Vinsonhaler Obituary
Norma L. Vinsonhaler

Norma, beloved friend and nana, has gone home to the Lord. She died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 24, 2018. Norma was born in Kansas on June 30, 1917. She did not have running water until her teenage years and rode her favorite horse, Rainbow Jesse to school. She worked at North American where they built B-24's and B-29's during WWII. She was a long-time resident of Torrance and a faithful parishioner of Torrance First Baptist Church.

Norma loved to dance, had a quick wit, dressed impeccably, and was crazy about Elvis! She loved to travel and went on cruises plus trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, China, and even drove across the country in her 80's. She was very active until her very late 90's until she broke her pelvis. We celebrated her 100th birthday this summer with a big party and she had a great time;"Elvis" even came to sing to her and perform! She valued her family and friendships immensely.

She was married to George Messinger from 1936 until his death in 1987. She was married to Richard Vinsonhaler from 1988 until his death in 2001. She is survived by Donna Lee (Messinger) Large, son-in-law, Ronald Large (Redondo Beach), granddaughters, Catherine (Large) Ross (Todd) (Mission Viejo), Elizabeth (Large) Marcon (Jeff) (Redondo Beach), and Jennifer (Large) Seagrave (Patrick) (Salt Lake City, Utah),and great-grandchildren, Sarah and Grant Ross, Samantha, Madeline and Bryce Marcon, and Catie Seagrave. Visitation at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary on Thursday 3/15, 4-6pm. Funeral to celebrate her life on Friday, 3/16 at 11am Torrance First Baptist Church. Norma will be laid to rest at Green Hills, near her late husbands and her granddaughter, Deborah Lynne Large (2/21- 3/26/1967)
