Aug. 31, 1947 - March 16, 2018

Rostom George Hagopian was born on August 31, 1947 in Jerusalem and passed away on March 16, 2018 in Gardena, CA. The son of George and Ojean Ayvazian Hagopian, Rostom came with his family to the United States on the Queen Mary in 1956. The family traveled from New York City to Los Angeles on the Santa Fe Railroad and set up residence in Inglewood. Rostom was an avid baseball fan and was very proud of pitching a no-hitter as a teenager on his baseball team. He graduated from Inglewood High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the Army from 1966-68 in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran and member of the VFW. He married Janet Roberts on November 23, 1985 in Kauai and resided in the South Bay his entire life. He was an avid Dodgers and Lakers fan and loved drag racing. He loved attending rock concerts and collected classic cars including his favorite 1951 Pontiac Star Chief he called "La Bamba". He spent his career in the family automotive business both in sales and as a mechanic, and spent his last 11 years employed by O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Rostom is survived by his wife Janet Hagopian (Gardena), brothers Chris Hagopian (Redondo Beach) and Raffi Hagopian (Palos Verdes), sister-in-law Linda Roberts (Torrance), brother-in-law Danny Roberts (Valparaiso, IN), nieces Jessie Hooper (Redondo Beach), and Rachel Lieske (Valparaiso, IN).

Visitation services will be held on Monday, March 26, 4-8pm, at Lighthouse Memorials, 1016 W. 164th Street, Gardena; funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 9:30am at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
