Shirley Ann "Lee" Kaufman Obituary
February 21st, 1949 - August 15th, 2018 Shirley "Lee" Ann Kaufman, age 69 last of Lomita, Calif. Passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. She was born February 21, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pa to the late Dolores and Robert Hoover. She is survived by her son, Robert Raymond Kaufman of Prescott, AZ, grandchildren Gavyn Sean of Lomita, Calif, Clayton Lee and Ella Lee of Prescott and her sister, Marianne Cady of Washington, PA. Lee graduated from Mary Star of the Sea Catholic (Girls) School, San Pedro, Calif. in 1967, moved back to Pittsburgh with her family upon graduation, but the following year, returned to San Pedro, enjoying the southern California climate she'd become accustomed to. There she married, began her career as a bookkeeper/sales/logistics specialist for numerous Los Angeles South Bay based businesses where she enjoyed her longest employment with Western Tube and Conduit. In February of this year, she retired after 37 years' service. Lee was a prolific reader, particularly enjoying the science fiction genre. After attending L.A. Harbor College to study Anthropology, she developed a lasting interest in Egyptology. Lee was always a compassionate, nurturing and loving mother and when her son began acting in high school and college plays, she became very supportive of the entire class which lovingly referred to her as "Momma Lee" even inviting her on two of their summer trips, one to London and later, Egypt. A creative person, Lee dabbled in drawing and painting, but what she really devoured, was the music of the mid-60's to the early 80's and was in the right place at the right time during the heyday of southern California music. Private inurnment will be in Prescott, Arizona. A Memorial, Celebration of Life, is being planned for late October/early November in San Pedro, California Please sign the guestbook at dailybreeze.com/obits.
