William Holcombe Obituary
William "Bill" Holcombe, Jr.

William Holcombe, Jr., age 82, was born February 18, 1935 in Aguascalientes, Mexico and passed away on January 30, 2018 in Torrance, CA. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00am. Funeral Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, 10:30am – 11:00am sharp. Arlington Mortuary is handling the funeral arrangements.

Bill's family moved to El Paso, Texas when he was young, and at age 17, Bill joined the US Navy. Bill served 4 years as a commanding officer, and then relocated to the South Bay area to continue his education at Pepperdine University where he received his MA in engineering. Bill met his wife of 56 years, Leona "Joan" Holcombe while working as a Program Manager at TRW. Bill was a mentor, coach and manager for many of his employees and helped with the space race for the US Military. Bill was truly a loving and giving man who always put all others first as that brought him great joy. As an avid soccer fan for life, in 2003 when the LA Galaxy were moving to the brand new stub hub center in Carson, Bill purchased 10 season tickets for the entire family to enjoy. Great memories were created and we even would all bet on who would score the first goal...one of the 10 field players to pick from a hat.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Clementine "Tina"; his brother, Peter Holcombe; his brother in law, Gordon Martin and daughter, Mary Holcombe. Bill is survived by his sisters, Lucile (Gordon) Martin, Jeanette (Bill) Dampier; wife, Leona "Joan" Holcombe; son, Steven Holcombe, son, Daren (Danette) Holcombe; daughter, Gena (Marcus) Ellingson; ten grandchildren; Sarah Holcombe, Megan Holcombe, Tyler Ellingson, Jessica Holcombe, Brandy Holcombe, Erica Holcombe, Hailey Ellingson, Nathan Holcombe, Katelyn Holcombe, Steven Michael Holcombe, and one great grand daughter, Kirsten (Sarah) Martling.

We believe that Bill would like to let you know that his work here is done. He now is enjoying a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. He also left detailed instructions for all of his family to celebrate his mission here which has now been completed, and as you know, any deviation from these instructions will not be tolerated.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity that is special to you, the donor.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the family and friends for their support in his final days. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
