David L. Hessler, 71, of Logan, NM, passed away October 17, 2013, at St. Anthony Hospice Center in Amarillo, TX after a short illness.
David is survived by two sons, Scot, of Richmond, IN, and Sean, of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Ken of Chapin, SC, and Robert, of Hudson, WI; one sister, Mary Ann Hindman, of Canton, GA; nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bernice Hessler, and his sister, Judith Hessler.
David grew up in Milton IN graduated from Milton High School, where he played basketball, baseball and track.
David joined the U. S. Army
in 1964, and served twice in Viet Nam combat with the First Cavalry Air Mobile.
David attended Xavier University. He graduated in Industrial Engineering from IUPUI in Richmond, IN. He completed a Masters Degree in Business from Ball State University.
David retired in 2005 after a 34 year career with Ford Motor Company or a subsidiary. During those years, he held positions in Engineering and Finance in Connersville, IN, and Juarez, Mexico.
After retirement he moved to Logan, NM, where he was active in numerous organizations. Dave held offices in the American Legion Post 77, including Post Adjutant, Finance Officer, and Gaming Accountant. He also volunteered at the Eagles. He attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Logan.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City, IN. A Funeral Mass will follow. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at San Tonio Catholic Church in Logan, NM on Saturday November 9th.
