Alcario Benevidez, 92, of Tucumcari, died Monday, July 18, 2005, in Clovis. He was born on March 22, 1914, in Montoya. He was a member of Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari. He was a farmer/rancher up until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Benevidez; a son, Louis Joe Benevidez; and 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Benevidez of Tucumcari; two daughters, Mela Chavez (and husband, Carlos) of Tucumcari and Elizabeth Smith (Nathan) of Bell Ranch; two sons, Raymond Benevidez (Rosalea) of Albuquerque and Zeke Benevidez (Betty) of Tucumcari; two step-sons, Sammy Ortega (C.J.) of Mountain Home, Ark. and Cesar Contreras (Juanis) of Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico; a brother, Jack Benevidez of Tucumcari; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Dunn Memorial Chapel in Tucumcari. Burial will be at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve, Robert L., Ronald Scott, and Charles E. Benevidez, Raymond Lee Chavez, Michael L. and Dennis Ulibarri, Louise Marshall, Laurie Ann Wolf, and Natalie Chavez. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucucmcari.
