Alfredo Elezar Cordova

1924 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
Alfredo Elezar Cordova, 90, of Logan, NM went home to be with his Lord Sunday, February 1, 2015.
Alfredo, a World War II Veteran was 18-years-old when he served in the U.S. Marine Corp (Pvt 1st Class) as an artillery gun crewman (1943). He was assigned to Camp Pendleton for boot camp, then Pearl Harbor before being deployed to combat. He served in the 4th Marine Division. The 4th Marine Division was formally activated in 1943 and deactivated 1945. Dad's combat deployment included the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Born April 4, 1924, in Logan, NM, Dad, together with his wife raised six sons, one daughter and a special niece-daughter in Logan, NM.
He was the son of Juan and Saraita Cordova of Logan, NM. He was married in 1959 and survived by his wife Emma Cordova. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in the company of friends and family in Logan in 2009. Dad enjoyed playing his guitar and the harmonica and spending time with his children. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion. Alfredo was a proud veteran, and retired from Rock Island Railroad.
He was preceded in the death by one son, Manual Cordova.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Arthur and wife Evelyn Cordova, Angie Cordova, Jose and his wife Ida Cordova, Ted and his wife Evelyn Cordova, Ernest Cordova, John Cordova and his wife Dora Dominguez, Christina Whitfield. He is also survived by one sister, Marce and her husband Teve Quintana.
Known for playing guitar and singing with friends; memories of Dad and his song will be long remembered. With the decline of his health, events to play his guitar became fewer and fewer. Though all his music playing friends left this earth before him; our hearts are comforted in knowing they're all reunited now in the music and songs of the heavens.
