Alvin Theodore Romero, 43, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, in Garita. Born May 11, 1959, in Las Vegas, he had been a rancher in Garita at the Hage and Webb Land and Cattle Company for 25 years. He was a member of the Center Street United Methodist Church. He grew up in Trujillo and attended Robertson High School in Las Vegas. He was a member of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and a member of the United States Team Roping Championships, where he was an avid competitor. He is survived by his wife, Missie; children: Maranda, Christina, Julianna, Sara, Olana and Alvin Chance, all of Tucumcari and Garita; his father: Pete Romero, brother: Dan Romero, Trujillo; brothers: Fred Romero and companion, Pam; Nick Romero and wife, Corrine, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; Jerry Romero and wife, Penny, Dalhart, Texas; Richard Romero, Springtown, Texas; Louis Romero, Garden City, Kan.; sisters: Irene Martinez and husband, Miguel, Las Vegas, N.M.; Sarah Quintana and husband, Diego, Pecos; sisters-in-law: Dee Romero, Denver; Mary Lou Romero, Hereford, Texas; mother-in-law: Carol Webb, Garita; sister-in-law: Laura McKinney and husband, Arlan, Hartley, Texas; brother-in-law: Larry Webb and wife, Jennifer, Newkirk. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Little Angel Romero, mother, Sara Romero and by brothers Lee and Herman Romero, father-in-law Olan Webb and grandmother Franciel Hage. Services are 1 p.m. today in the Center Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Hage-Webb Cemetery at Garita. Pallbearers will be Jerry Romero, Nick Romero, Fred Romero, Dan Romero, Richard Romero, Larry Webb and Arlen McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be all nephews, family and friends. An educational fund for the children of Alvin Romero has been established at the Citizens Bank, P.O. Box 1228, Tucumcari. Thomas B. Breidegan Thomas B. Breidegan, 86 died Friday, May 2, 2003. Born in Machville, Penn., he graduated from Chillicothe Business College in Missouri, where he met his future wife, Grietje. In August of 1940, he began his career as a telegraph operator at Coyote and Vaughn, then moved to Tucumcari in 1945. In 1970, he became agent wire-chief, the position he had when he retired in June of 1977 from the Chicago, Rock Island and Southern Pacific Transportation Co. He had been a ham radio operator since 1987 and worked as a volunteer examiner for the Ham radio license. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by his second wife, Martha Breidegan, of the home in Amarillo, Texas; a daughter: Joanna Gutz and husband, Chuck, Amarillo; a son: Harold Breidegan and wife, Margie, Tucumcari; three step-daughters: Stacy Minor Ferrell and husband, Jeff; Rebecca Sherrill and KayLynn Sherrill; four step-sons: Max Minor, Jim Sherrill and wife, Nancy; Ray Sherrill and Michael Minor; a sister: Mary Breidegan, Ventura, Calif.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years in 1989. Services will be 2:30 p.m. (CST) Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian Hesse officiating. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. His body will be available for viewing until 8 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Amarillo. The family suggests memorials to the Trinity Lutheran School, 5005 I-40 West, Amarillo, TX 79106 or a Christian school of the donor's choice.
