Antonio G. (Tony) Parras, 71, of Abilene, TX died Friday, November 21, 2008, at Dallas Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. There will be a Rosary at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari on Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 7pm and memorial services at St. Anne's on Friday, December 5, 2008, at 10am. Tony was born to Florencio and Refugio Parras on July 10, 1937, in Newkirk, NM. He is preceded in death by his son Anthony Parras, one brother Joe Parras and two sisters Nea Montano and Tina Gutierrez.
Tony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maria Parras of Abilene, TX; three daughters Annette Parras, Georgia Browning and husband Les , DeeDee Sinclair and husband Todd all of Abilene, TX, and daughter-in-law Laura Parras of Eugene, OR; Seven grandchildren; Dennis Castonguay of Fountain Valley, CA., Marlina and Alex Parras of Eugene, OR, Denae and Stephan Molinas, Anthony Browning, and Joshua Sinclair all of Abilene, TX; two brothers; Floyd Parras, and Roger Parras; six sisters; Christy Lujan, Cora Duran, Clara Aguilar, Elvira Noqueras, Eva Castillo, and Frances Parras, and several nieces and nephews.
As a young man, Tony served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He also worked for the Rock Island Railroad in Tucumcari, NM. Tony went to college in San Bernadino, CA and started his trade as a welder. Soon after, Tony became an experienced Pipefitter. His work took him all over the United States and South America, where he made several friends and touched so many lives. Tony retired in 2003 in Abilene, TX. He spent his retirement with his three passions: His FAMILY, his grandchildren, and his golf clubs. Tony will be missed but never forgotten.
