Austin "Carroll" Blasingame Obituary
Austin Carroll Blasingame, 83 of Amarillo died Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 1:00 PM at Bell Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Dean Whaley officiating. Arrangments are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Carroll was born on August 3, 1932, in Gallegos, NM to Austin and Heptsie Blasingame. He attended schools in Logan and Tucumcari, NM. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1951. Carroll married the love of his life, Edna Ruth Haines in Tucumcari on December 3, 1953. While in the Air Force he received a special commendation as well as various other medals. He was a veteran of the Korean war. He proudly served 20 years in the Air Force and after he retired, they lived in Vega and he worked in the ag industry. They moved to Amarillo in 1980, where they made their home. Carroll was co-owner of Blasingame and Associates Roofing and General Contractors, as well as co-owner of P R Nails. They enjoyed traveling and were members of the Airstream Travel Club. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and the Panhandle Blue Grass and Old Tyme Music Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Edna Ruth Blasingame; a daughter, Joyce Moore and husband Al of Wildorado; two sons, Butch Blasingame, and Bill Blasingame both of Amarillo; ten grandchildren, and twenty four great grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to Bell Avenue Church of Christ 1600 Bell St. Amarillo, Texas 79106 or BSA Hospice.
