Barbara Jean Kinkade Obituary
Barbara Jean Kinkade, 69, of Logan, New Mexico, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 27, 1939, in Truscott, Knox County, Texas to Esker New and Ella May Thompson. She married Geral D. Kinkade on March 28, 1963, in Portales, New Mexico.
Barb, as she was known by to her loved ones, managed to take her passion and talent for cooking and turn it into a life-long career. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77, as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 3526. Barb loved to crochet and knit and was rightfully proud of her garden. She was a magnificent wife, mother, granny, and friend and we are all better people for having known and been loved by her.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Geral Kinkade, of the family home; two sons, Drury Kinkade and wife, Rhonda, of Farmington, and Darrell Kinkade and wife, Shannon, of Carlsbad; four grandchildren, Daniel and Melissa Mae of Farmington, and Michael and Jack of Carlsbad, and the many friends who touched her life.
Graveside services were held July 3 at the Logan Cemetery and were officiated by Randy Bruhn; an Honor Cordon was provided by the New Mexico American Legion Riders Chapters 3 and 15. Honoring Barb's love of family, friends, and food, a reception, given by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 77, followed interment.
