Dolores H. (Strube) Norris, 83, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, March 2, 2010.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at South Georgia Baptist Church with Bob Miller, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dolores was born to William (Bill) and Maude Irene (Thompson) Strube on January 25th, 1927, in Snake Creek, North Dakota. Dolores (Dodie) was 83 years old and was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, William and Maude Strube; her husband, Eldon; brothers, Lloyd and Roy Strube; her sisters, Alcina Johnson and Elaine Jones, and a great grandson, Grady Wade Henson.
Dolores and Eldon were married on April 15, 1946, in Bellingham, Washington. Together they raised 5 children, James W Norris of Tucumcari, NM, Eldon L. Norris, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, Roy W. Norris of Lubbock, Texas, Glenn E. Norris of Canyon, Texas and Sharon K. Jackson of Kempner, Texas. Dodie and Eldon made their home on the Family farm in Tucumcari, New Mexico, moving there in March of 1964 until 1998 when they relocated to Amarillo, Texas. Dodie was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Wife. Her life was spent serving the Lord and looking after her family. A very hard working Lady, Dodie was constantly serving and being a blessing to every life she touched. How much less our lives would have been had we not been part of her life. A long time member of South Georgia Baptist Church after a long membership at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Dodie leaves behind 4 sons; a daughter; 3 daughters-in-law; 11 grandchildren; 2 granddaughters-in-law; 8 great, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Milton Jones of Bellingham, Washington, and a sister-in-law, Christine Norris of Tyler, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to South Georgia Baptist Church Building Fund, 5209 S. Georgia St., Amarillo, Texas 79110.
