Donald Lee Farmer, 82, of Clovis, NM, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Farwell Care and Rehabilitation Center in Farwell, TX. Services will be held at a later date.
Donald was born August 26, 1930, to Clifford David and Mildred Mary (Karr) Farmer in Emporia, KS. A life long love of music, played in bands in High School and college was a founding member of the band "The Jive Five". In 1951, he graduated from New Mexico State University. He married Jan Huey Murphy January 14, 2008, in Clovis, NM. He worked for the First Bank in Leota, KS, Rocky Ford National Bank in Rocky Ford, CO, Grant County State Bank in Ulyssis, KS, and First National Bank in Guyman, OK, retiring as a Bank President. In 1978 and 1979, he was the President of Colorado Bankers Association, in 2000 he was the President of the Men's Bible Class, and he was a member of the Rotary International in Guyman, OK.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Farmer of the home; four sons, Mark (Lauren) Farmer, Matt (Margaret) Farmer both of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin (Kathy) Farmer of Aurora, CO, and Chad (Debbie) Farmer of Elizabeth, CO; a brother, Dr. Darrell Dean Farmer of Tucumcari, NM; a sister, Marion Knapp of Albuquerque, NM; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mildred; two brothers, Richard Dale Farmer and Robert Gale Farmer; and a brother-in-law, J.W. Knapp.
