Obituary Condolences

Dortha Dean Stallings Marshall, 83, of Tucumcari, New Mexico passed away in Clovis on February 24, 2009. Services will be performed on February 28, 2009, at 10:00 AM at the Dunn Chapel on 115 S. 3rd Street. Tucumcari, New Mexico. Internment will be conducted at the Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, Texas on February 28, 2009, at 3:00 PM.
Dortha was born November 1, 1925, in Turkey Texas, the only child of Clarence and Ruby Stallings. When Dortha was around 5, the family moved to a farm southeast of Canyon, Texas and married her childhood friend, Charles Marshall, on December 28, 1946. After marrying, Dortha completed her Accounting Degree from West Texas State University. In 1954, her small family of 4 moved to a ranch northeast of Arch, New Mexico, where she was active in community services. In 1972, her larger family of 8 moved to a farm southeast of Tucumcari, New Mexico where she lived until her passing. Dortha enjoyed travel and explored much of the continental United States and Alaska, a river cruise thru Russia, several Caribbean cruises, Copper Canyon in Mexico, Mayan ruins, and attended Olympics and World Fairs. Throughout her short life, she witnessed the Great Depression, World War II, Television, a man on the moon, and the computer age. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her life revolved around her family and the sharing of life with them.
Survivors include her 5 sons, Karl of Houston, Texas, Clarence and wife, Sherry of Las Cruces, New Mexico, David and wife, Laura of Canyon, Texas, John of Tucumcari, New Mexico, Larry and wife, Louie of Tucumcari, New Mexico; one daughter, Cynthia and husband, Bruce Carlson of Crescent, Oklahoma; 8 Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents, Clarence and Ruby Stallings, and daughter, Kathlene.
Donations of remembrance may be made to the Lung Association or, Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, Texas
