Frances Angel (Duran) Wolfe Obituary
Frances Angel Wolfe was born on August 23, 1928, in Porter, NM to Gregorio Angel and Maria Paula Duran and died in Albuquerque, NM on Friday, February 26, 2016, which would have been her sister, Sara's 100th birthday.
Frances was a fiercely independent woman who raised her two boys alone after their dad died in 1963. She may have been tiny at only 4'10" but her boys respected her authority and she was a strong but loving mother. Frances was a beautician in Tucumcari, NM for 60 years, standing on a little box to reach her client's heads.
At 80 years of age, Frances decided it was time to retire and she adopted a little doggie who became her devoted companion. After that, if you saw Frances, you saw Reba prancing with her momma. In June, 2011 she began to experience signs of dementia so she came to live in Albuquerque where she was cared for by her son, Manson, daughter-in-law, Agnes and niece Pauline "Sis" Otero. Frances then moved into an assisted living apartment in Rio Rancho, then ultimately to LifeSpire Assisted Living for dementia and Alzheimer's residents.
Frances was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Vivian Angel Gillean, Andrew Angel, Sarita Angel DeRouen, Bernard Angel and Mary Angel Heacock.
She is survived by her sons, Manson Wolfe (Agnes) of Albuquerque, NM, Wayne Wolfe (Belinda) of Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Valerie Wolfe (Melissa) of Corvallis, Oregon; grandsons, Eric Garcia of Hobbs, NM, Jeremiah and Daniel Wolfe of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Lucy Angel; nieces, Pauline Gillean Otero, Paula DeRouen Williams, Melinda Angel Gonzales, Deborah Angel Ruiz, Connie Angel Aldaz, Helen Angel Fitzgerald, Cindy Heacock Pickard; nephews, Charley Angel, Vic Gillean, Eddie Gillean, Greg Gillean, Morris Angel, Denis DeRouen and Jim Tuffy Heacock and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A special thank you to her godson, Mike Otero, for his dedication to Frances (especially his patience in relocating her numerous crosses each time she moved to a new apartment) and to family friend, Joyce, for cutting and styling Frances' hair and lifting her spirit. We are grateful to her caregivers Ryan, Porfie, Juana, Roxie and other staff members at LifeSpire who loved "little Frances" and cared for her with respect. Also, a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and other angels at Presbyterian Rust Hospital and Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care of Frances in her last days.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at noon with burial of ashes to follow at Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the (www.alz.org), the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 118 W. Main, Tucumcari, NM 88401, or to .
