Helen Catherine Priddy-Bugg Obituary
Helen Catherine Priddy-Bugg, long time Tucumcari, NM, resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2012, while helping to transport a recently adopted puppy to its new home.
Catherine was born April 29 1960, in Odessa, TX, the eldest of Holt and Mildred Priddy. She moved with her family to Santa Fe during the summer of 1971. She earned her high school diploma from Santa Fe Preparatory School in  1978. Catherine attended Colorado State University and earned a degree in Journalism in 1982. While attending college, she spent a year abroad in France, an experience which had a profound, positive effect on her. With degree in hand, she worked for a newspaper in central Texas, but eventually returned home to New Mexico, ultimately landing in Tucumcari. Because of its wonderful people, natural beauty, history and potential, Catherine absolutely adored Tucumcari. She did not understand why the rest of the world had not chosen to live there. She had been an active member of the St. Michaels Episcopal Church, Rural 1 Volunteer Fire Department, the Tucumcari Food Co-op, Quay County DWI Task Force, Crime Stoppers, B P O Elkes Lodge 1172 and Tucumcari Animal Rescue. She was an avid animal lover to the core. She was never without at least a few dogs and cats. Living in the country allowed her to add chickens, ducks and geese to the menagerie. They brought her endless joy and made her granddaughter, niece and nephews smile and giggle. Her kind spirit will live on in the countless fond memories she left with those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alan Bugg.
Surviving Catherine is her son, Quinten and wife, Cara Bugg and granddaughter, Madison all of Tucumcari; her parents, Holt and Mildred Priddy of Santa Fe, NM; sister, Laura Murry and husband, Leicester of Christchurch, New Zealand, along with their son, Wilson; brother, Nelson Priddy and wife, Diane of Anchorage, Alaska along with their children, Ella and Declan; cousins, Jane, Blewett, Jeff and Jay Gardner of Irving, TX, and many friends near and far.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Tucumcari Convention Center, South Room, beginning at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Mark Lake of St. Michale's Episcopal Church of Tucumcari and Rev. Benjamin Larzelene, of Christ Luthern Church of Santa Fe, NM, officiating.
The family suggests for those who wish, donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Fund at the Tucumcari Animal Hospital, 101 North 10th St. in Tucumcari or to Tucumcari Ranch Supply Animal Rescue Account at 502 South Lake Street, in Tucumcari, NM, in loving memory of Catherine Bugg.  Following her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari NM, 575 461-3815.
