1925 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Homer A. Kimbler Jr.,87, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in an Abilene Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at he Texas State Veteran's Cemetery at Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Homer A. Kimbler Jr. was born in Breckenridge on May 10, 1925, to parents Homer A. Kimbler Sr. and Velma Vina Dixon Kimbler. He graduated from Lovington High School in Lovington, New Mexico and attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was a Seaman 1st Class. Homer married Marian Foster on March 16, 1946, in Monrovia, California. He was employed with Diamond Shamrock for 30 years in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Mr. Kimbler was the past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows of New Mexico (1976-1978), lifetime member of the VFW, and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He had been involved in Graft Fair. At one time in his life Homer had been an avid golfer, square dance caller, active in Senior Citizens, played dominoes, and he loved to fish.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Kimbler of Breckenridge; mother, Velma Kimbler of Breckenridge; son, Johnny Kimbler and wife, Carolyn of Breckenridge; sister, Louise Couch of Birmingham, AL; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and numerous good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer A. Kimbler Sr.; son, Terry Kimbler, and a brother, Jack B. Kimbler.
