1934 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Joe Leonard (JL) Rede, age 79, of Tucumcari, NM passed away peacefully in Albuquerque NM at Presbyterian Hospice on Monday July 9, 2013.
Joe was born April 17, 1934, at Atoka, NM to Luciano and Justa Rede, living the last part of is life in Tucumcari with his loving wife Wanda Faye (Patsy) Rede.
He was an incredibly intelligent man who enjoyed sharing his faith with others and loved his family. He proudly served in the US Navy as a Radio Operator and received the National Defense Service Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. His most significant duty assignment was with the Commander Fleet Air Wind SIX during the Korean War. He enjoyed crossword and word puzzles, was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed sharing and explaining the bible and the history associated with the events in the bible. He taught Adult Religious Education at St. Anne's Catholic Church and was devoted to keeping his holy hour at the church and helping others walk in the faith. He was an AARP Safe Driver Instructor, was a member of AA and was active and loved to shoot pool at the Sr Citizens Center.
Surviving Joe is his wife Wanda of Tucumcari; his two sons, Ricardo Rede and Jacque and their two children and Max Rede and Joanne, all of Los Angeles, CA; extended family, Jovita Musha and Mark of Fairfield, CA, Macrina Christian of Tucumcari, Kathleen Allen and Michael of St Louis, MO and his three sons, Joseph Potter and wife Bobbie of New Jersey, Orie Potter of Texas and Margarito Benavidez and his wife of Syracuse, NY; his brothers Catarino Rede and wife Ora of Silver City, NM and Luciano Rede of Hesperia, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Valentina Hernandez and Mary Rede and by brothers Paul, Ramon, Manuel and Albert Rede.
Rosary services will be Sunday evening, July 14th, 2013 in the St. Anne's catholic Church beginning at 7 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Monday morning, July 15th, in the St. Anne's Catholic Church with Rev Father Hyginus Anuta as celebrant. Pallbearers will be Jackie Hittson, Joseph Sanchez, Michael Jordan, Andrew Sanchez, Nathan Sanchez, T.J. Benavidez, Chris Aris and Roy Welshenbaugh.
Interment will follow in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
