1918 - 2015 Obituary Condolences
Josephine Goscinski Shiplet of San Jon, NM passed away April 17, 2015, at the age of 96 in Midland, TX at Legacy Ranch.
She was born in San Jon, NM to Nancy & Ignacy Goscinski on April 27, 1918. She spent her younger years in San Jon and graduated from San Jon Schools. She earned her B.A. & Masters in Education at Eastern New Mexico University. She taught Business Education at the San Jon Schools for 37 years where she was loved and respected by her students and colleagues.
In 1937, she met and married Lemuel Shiplet, and they celebrated 73 years of marriage together. They had two sons, James L. & William C. Shiplet.
Josephine was an active member of First Baptist Church in San Jon and was a servant to many of the people in the community. She was an amazing Godly woman who spent her life helping and doing for others.
Josephine is survived by her sons, James L. Shiplet and wife, La Rita Osborn Shiplet of Coral Gables, Florida and William C. Shiplet and wife, Sandra Stanfield Shiplet of Midland, TX; one brother, T.A. (Buster) Goscinski of Pasadena, Texas; three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great, great grandson, nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Shiplet; her parents; two sisters, Anna Belle and Martha, and her grandson, William Todd Shiplet.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Josephine will be held at First Baptist Church in San Jon, NM on Saturday, March 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Erwin officiating. Burial service will immediately follow at San Jon Cemetery.
We would like to thank all the Caregivers at Legacy Ranch for the wonderful care they provided for Josephine. It takes a special person to deal day in and day out with the people they serve. THANK YOU.
