Ken Waterman Services: Have been held. Kenneth Lee Waterman, 57, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. Kenneth Lee Waterman was born May 30, 1948, in Norfolk, Va., to Roberta Jane Benedix Waterman and Jack Raymond Waterman. He grew up in Tucumcari, graduating in 1966 and then attending Mesa College on a football scholarship where he met his future wife. Through a family friend, Mr. Waterman became a locomotive engineer working for the Denver & Rio Grande, Southern Pacific, Amtrak, Union Pacific, and Burlington Northern Sante Fe railroads, all without leaving the Grand Junction area. He enjoyed a 30-year railroad career. Mr. Waterman was involved with 4-H and served on many wide-ranging boards of directors in and around the community. Family members said he was a wonderful, loving husband, best friend, and father known for his humor Mr. Waterman loved fishing, hunting, hiking and camping with his friend, Dave Dirks; trap shooting, and sharing jokes, especially with his "brother," Mike Blackburn; talking with anyone and everyone as if they were long time friends, and ballroom dancing with his wife, Claudia. Mr. Waterman was preceded in death by his father and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Claudia J. Gobbo; two sons, J.W. Tyler of Stillwater, Minn., and Garan L. (and fiancee) Crystal of Grand Junction; a daughter, Kourtnie V. of Commerce City, Colo.; his mother, Roberta Jane of Tucumcari; a brother, Walter Raymond (and wife Linda) of Castle Rock, Colo.; a mother-in-law, June Gobbo of Grand Junction; two nephews and three nieces, many special cousins, and two aunts. Following his wishes, Mr. Waterman was cremated. Memorials may be made to the Aplastic Anemia & Myelodysplasia International Foundation (AA&MDSIF). Arrangements are by of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary of Grand Junction.
