Lavona Kay (Garrison) White Obituary
Lavona Kay (Garrison) White, 74, of Grady, NM passed away September 17, 2014 at home. Burial was held on September 17, 2014 and a memorial is scheduled for September 28, 2014 at 2: 00 p.m. At Grady Baptist Church in Grady, NM.
Kay was born October 2, 1939 to Carroll and Marie Garrison in Tulia, TX. Kay married Elmer White of Grady, NM in Silverton, TX on July 11, 1958. She graduated from high school in Silverton, TX, received a BA in education from Easter New Mexico University and a M.Ed. From Texas Women's University. She taught school in Bogota, Colombia while serving as a Southern Baptist missionary. After she retired from Region XVI in Amarillo, TX, Kay stayed active by serving on the Grady, NM school board and working to develop wind energy in the Grady area.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her sister, Virginia Hardin: her daughter, Ruth White-Kitchen; and grandson, Tyler White.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer White of Grady, NM; son, Ryan White of Grady, NM: daughter, Sharon and her husband Tom Brockmann of Guymon, OK; sister, Jerry and her husband Larry Sculley of Bow, NH; nine grandchildren, Alex Lundsford of Denton, TX, Aaron Lundsford of Denton, TX; Andrew Lunsford of Sherman, TX; Adam Lunsford of Canyon, TX; Adrian Lunsford of Grady, NM; Hope White of Clovis, NM; Charles Brockmann of Charleston, SC; Carol Brockmann of Guymon, OK and Brice Brockmann of Guymon, OK.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Children's Baptist Children's Home in Portales, NM
