M. Ted Register Obituary
Marsell Ted Register, 78, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Reverend Bob Miller, Pastor, South Georgia Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mr. Register was born on September 16, 1931, in Baconton, Georgia to William and Emily Register. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty years of service. He married Evelyn Haines Terry on December 3, 1977, and had owned and operated rental property. For the past five years, his hobby had been collecting tabs from aluminum cans for support of the Ronald McDonald House. He had turned in an access of 1,100 pounds. Mr. Register was a lifetime member and past commander of the V.F.W. Post #1475. He was also a member of South Georgia Baptist Church, the Khiva Shrine, Moose Lodge and the Masonic Lodge of Macon, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Register in 1977; by his twin sister, Lara Bell Willis, and two brothers, Wilbert and William.
Mr. Register is survived by his loving family, his wife, Evelyn Register of Amarillo; two daughters, Jeannette Maddaford and husband, Rex, and Thelma Jo Riddle and husband, Mike, all of Tucumcari; four grandchildren, Alicia Early and husband, Shawn of Omaha, Nebraska, Ryan Maddaford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Terry Riddle of Lamy, New Mexico, and Valtie Riddle of Tucumcari, New Mexico; one great grandson, Dylan Early; three nephews, Bill Black and wife, Ginger, Butch Black, and Jerry Register and wife, Mary; a niece, Sherri Cook and husband, Freddy all of Georgia and a great nephew, Brandon Black.
Family suggests memorials be made to the Building Fund at South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, TX 79110, to the Ronald McDonald House, 1501 Streit Drive Amarillo, TX 79106, or to a favorite charity in memory of Ted Register.
Pallbearers for Mr. Register's service will be Rex Maddaford, Mike Riddle, Ryan Maddaford, Terry Riddle, Shawn Early, Bill Black, Brandon Black, and Carroll Blasingame. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Huff, Monty Stumbo and all friends and neighbors.
