Margaret Jo Leach De Bault of Lawton, Oklahoma was born November 27, 1925, in Cross Plains, TX to Charles Monroe and Myrtle Frances (Shepherd) Lamb. She passed away May 21, 2016, in Lawton, OK at the age of 90.
Margaret married Chilton N. Leach on December 5, 1947. To this union, three children were born. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1970. Together, they owned and operated the Silver Grill Café in San Jon, NM on historic Route 66. They also had the Leach & Sewell Service Station along the same location. After her husbands death, she sold the businesses. She married Richard De Bault in 1970 in Amarillo, TX he preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of the San Jon Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Margaret enjoyed arrowhead hunting with her oldest sister and her nephew. She lived in the San Jon and Tucumcari, NM area for over 30 years before moving to Lawton in 2005. She was a quilter, and worked very hard to make her 40-plus hand-made quilts as perfect as possible. She also enjoyed crocheting and doing other needlework. She loved reading westerns and murder mysteries.
Margaret is survived by one daughter and her husband, Linda and J.R. Hobbs of Lawton, OK; one son and his wife, Chilton M. and Sandy Leach, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; 4 grandchildren, Bradley and Lori Hobbs of Lawton, OK, Chad Hobbs of Lawton, OK, Kevin Leach of Las Vegas, NV, Curtis Leach of Phoenix, AZ; one brother and his wife, Gail and Marie Lamb of Artesia, NM; one sister, Mercedes Coulter of Tucumcari, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Marian Lamb, her husbands Chilton Leach and Richard De Bault, son John Curtis Leach, sister Ray Hill, brother Charles Lamb, nephew Roger Lamb, and nieces Jerry Hill and Denise Carter.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 7th at 10:30 A.M. at the San Jon Cemetery in San Jon, NM with Rev. Heath Husted officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Crews Funeral Home of Apache, OK.
