1934 - 2010 Obituary Condolences
Maria Rebecca (Becky) Martinez was called from this life and unto eternal rest on Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Colorado Springs, CO, following an extended illness.
Becky was born on October 30, 1934, in Tucumcari, NM, to Julian and Manuelita Romero. During her lifetime, she worked as a cook for several years at Dan Trigg Memorial Hospital, and prior to that at the school cafeteria in Kirtland, NM, and at a restaurant that she also managed in Aztec, NM. For about 15 of the last 16 years, she was locally known as ""The Avon Lady"" - a job that was a natural with her personality as she loved to have company to visit and laugh with. She also enjoyed recreational activities such as Bingo and was always busy with different crafts including embroidery.
She is survived by her children, Bob Cordova and wife (Gina) of Colorado Springs, CO, Louella Mead of Farmington, NM, Rachael Cordova and husband (Mohammed) of Iran, and Beckie Ann Cordova of Oklahoma City, OK, and also by twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Delfinia Cordova and husband (Manuel) of Tucumcari, Rosalia Montano of Albuquerque, and Virgie Ortiz of Tucumcari; her brother, Moises Romero and wife (Ruby) of Tucumcari, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Manuelita ;her brothers, Benancio and Manuel Romero; her sisters, Jean Quintana, Jenny Malinowski, Genevieve Calbert, and Mary Calbert.
Rosary will be recited Sunday April 11th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Mass of the Resurrection being offered on Monday morning April 12th at 11:00 a.m. with Father Hyginus Anuta as celebrant. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place.
