Mary Lindsay Obituary
Mary Lindsay age 78, Tucumcari Resident, passed away following an extended illness on Sunday April 5th 2015, in Amarillo TX.
Mary was born April 26, 1936, near Clear Spring MI. She married Leland D. Lindsay January 9, 1954, in Hagerstown, MD.
They came to New Mexico in the spring of 1954. She worked for many years and retired from the Artesia School cafeterias. One of her greatest achievements was going to back to school as the age of 50, because TB had prevented her from graduating from high school. She attained her GED at the age of 52. The Lindsay family lived in the same home for 45 years until she moved to Tucumcari in 2010 to be near her daughter. She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari.
Surviving her is her daughter, Debra Whittington & husband Mark of Tucumcari; brother, James King of Ocala, FL; her daughter in law, June Lindsay of Artesia; grandchildren, Ginger Kelly & Nick and Megan Martin & B.C.; great grandchildren, Alexis, Karrington, Rylee, Hunter, Katelyn and Austin all of Artesia NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William L and Emma Mae King; by her husband, Leland; her son, Stanley, and great grandson, Bryce.
Services celebrating her life will be Wednesday morning at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari with interment following in the Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia NM on Friday at 10 AM with Pastor John Hinze, minister of the First Baptist Church officiating.
