Mary Munoz Obituary
Mary Munoz, age 70, passed away at her home in Tucumcari on Thursday evening, May 21, 2009, following an extended illness.
Mary Munoz was born December 5, 1938, in Anson, TX.  She had been a resident of Tucumcari, moving here with her family when she was 4 years old. She was very active in the community being a member of the Quay County CRAFTS organization, and board member of the Quay County Arts and Humanities. She had been selected Women of the Year in 1998 for New Mexico L.U.L.A.C., and had participated at the Tucumcari Historical Museum as a story teller, as well as writing for the Ink Slinger Publication. She also penned articles for the La Herencia Publication out of Santa Fe, NM. She loved writing and poetry. She had been Activity Director at the Van Ark Nursing Center and had been a Recreational Therapist for Mental Health Resources in Quay County. She was an member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church being active in the Blue Army and the Christian Mothers.
Surviving Mary Munoz are her daughters, Donna Garcia and Maria Leyba and husband, Valetin all of Tucumcari, along with Roxinne Toscano and husband, Labon of Wheelock, TX; her brother, Bobby Rivera and wife, Jane and sister, Toni Romero all of Tucumcari, NM; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM in the St. Anne Catholic Church.  Mass of the Resurrection will be offered on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 AM with Rev Father Hyginus Anuta as Celebrant.  Pall bearers will be David John Apodaca, Adrianna Apodaca, Miranda Apodaca, Manuel Toscano, Jesse Garcia, Kasara Garcia, and Gernando Franko. Honorary bearers will be Luis Gutierrez and Jesus Apodaca. Interment will be in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
