Nancy Kay David, known to many as "KAY" but also as Mom, Nama, Grandma Kay and Aunt Kay passed to her eternal home on August 18th 2016 in Tucumcari, NM. She will be missed and forever remembered by all who had the good fortune to know her. Her legacy will live on.
Kay was born on January 10, 1935, in Palisade, NE, in the home where she grew up. Her early years were spent on horseback, swimming, and lifeguarding at the Krotter Pool in Palisade and out running, out jumping,and out throwing anyone who dared to compete with her. Following high school, she earned her college in Physical Therapy with coursework at the University of Wyoming and Kansas University. Her adult life was spent in North Platte, Holdrege and Alma, NE until the family moved to Tucumcari, NM in 1975. Kay had many roles throughout her life. None was more important to her than being a mother to her five children and grandmother to 16. She was a substitute teacher, church organist and custodian, election judge, seamstress and employee of the fabric shop and Sundowner Gallery.
Throughout her life she loved horses, riding and working cattle whenever she had the opportunity. Kay traveled countless miles to follow the activities first of her children and then those of all sixteen grandchildren. Always a Rattler supporter, she was recognized as the 1990 Rattler Fan of the Year. She had been an active member of the Center Street United Methodist Church in Tucumcari, NM. She was sister, aunt and friend to a host of people in Tucumcari and across the country. She was always a rock with her faith, positive and caring attitude, infectious smile and encouraging words that touched everyone she met.
She is survived by four children, Kimberly McCoy & Carl, Teri Miller & Neil, Mick David & Merri and Stan David & Megan; sixteen grandchildren, Joe (Tisha), Annie, Will (Fiance Bailey,) Jake and David McCoy. Ashley (fiance Brad Milavsky) and Brandon Miller. Mandie (Jahir) Waterman, Rodrick, Nat, Jerae (fiance Eric Mathews),and Mickey Coley David. Leah, Breeann (Garrett) Thornton, Clancy and Karley David. Four Great grandchildren -Maliyah and Javon Waterman, Paisley and Julia McCoy. Sister Linda Graybill, Brothers Fred(Nada) Krotter and Chuck(Kathy) Schroeder along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rod; her parents, Madeline and F. Chauncey Krotter; sister, Janet Stinnette and brother Gerald Krotter.
Services celebrating her life were Monday August 22, 2016 in the Center Street United Methodist Church beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor John Barrett Officiating.
Pall bearers were Clancy David, Brad Graybill, Justin Graybill, Fred Krotter, Jahir Waterman, John Span, and Richard Romine. Honorary bearers will be Rodrik David ,Nat David, Mickey Coley David,Brandon Miller, Garrett Thornton, Joe McCoy, Will McCoy Jake McCoy and David McCoy. Interment will be in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari, NM.
